The Tropical Remote Sensing Institute is presently being established near Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The institute is concerned with research and the offering of scientific services. Initially these activities are focusing on the areas:

– Analysis of satellite imagery to document land use change since 1985

– Establish an NDACC observation site in support of GCOS and the validation of international environmental satellites

– Investigation of the hydrological cycle, in particular the quantification of the vertical transport of moisture in the tropical atmosphere with the objective to improve numerical weather prediction and earth system models.

We are actively looking for national and international collaboration. The institute is lead by Dr Arndt Meier, an internationally reputed remote sensing scientist.
